Adoption from Foster Protocol - Pawla’s Pet

1st Step: Preparing for Adoption

• Foster parents will receive all necessary medical and behavioral records when they take in a foster dog.

• A digital repository of required adoption forms will be available online for easy access.

• A step-by-step adoption checklist will be provided to ensure consistency in the process.

• Dedicated team members or volunteers will be available to answer adoption-related questions.

• If urgent assistance is needed, foster parents will have access to a dedicated contact method.

2nd Step: Connecting with Potential Adopters

• Foster parents may choose to communicate directly with adopters through a designated email or phone number.

• If a foster parent prefers not to handle direct inquiries, Pawla’s Pet will facilitate communication between both parties.

• Foster parents are encouraged to follow the Adopters Welcome guidelines to create a positive adoption experience.

3rd Step: Adoption Process

• Adoption fees, if applicable, can be processed through online payment systems or by phone.

• Meet-and-greets should take place in a safe and neutral location, such as a park or pet-friendly store, to ensure the comfort of both the foster parent and the adopter.

• During the meet-and-greet, foster parents should provide full disclosure of the pet’s medical and behavioral history.

• If a potential adopter has questions the foster parent cannot answer, they should reach out to the designated contact for assistance.

 

4th Step: Finalizing the Adoption

• Foster parents must ensure that all adoption paperwork is completed before the pet is transferred.

• A digital copy of signed forms should be submitted within one hour via photo or scan, with hard copies mailed within 48 hours.

• Pawla’s Pet will update ownership records in the system upon receiving the necessary documents.

• If digital signatures are accepted, all forms should be completed online.

 

5th Step: Post-Adoption Support

• New adopters will receive guidance on post-adoption care and support from Pawla’s Pet.

• Foster parents should encourage adopters to reach out with any questions or concerns during the transition period.

 

By following these steps, we aim to create a streamlined and positive adoption experience that benefits our foster families, adopters, and most importantly, the dogs in our care.
