Pawla’s Pets began with a simple truth: the bond between a person and an animal can change a life. For me, that bond was forged through both love and loss.

During the pandemic, we adopted our first dog, Lambsie. When she passed away from undiagnosed diabetes, our grief became a calling. I became a Clinical Nutritionist so no pet parent would ever feel that same helplessness again. Since 2020, we have fostered more than 180 dogs — along with cats, rabbits, and a growing family of ducks. We’ve welcomed the biters, the barkers, the sick, the seniors, and the misunderstood. We’ve seen how a safe yard, a warm bed, and a nutritious meal can transform even the most frightened animal.

Today, we’re asking for your hand in ours so this mission can continue long into the future.

Pawla’s Pets is dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals in need — dogs, rabbits, ducks, and any creature who needs a second chance. Our backyard is becoming a nonprofit sanctuary designed to protect animals who are abandoned, at risk, or facing euthanasia. We are building a place where they can heal, play, and thrive.

To expand our impact, we are transforming our backyard into a fully equipped sanctuary.

 

Our next steps include:

• Improved fencing to safely host multiple dogs from different shelters.

• Kennels for secure nighttime housing.

• Enhanced habitats for rabbits and ducks, including predator‑safe areas for raising their young.

• Specialized supplies to meet the unique needs of each animal in our care.

With these upgrades, Pawla’s Pets will provide a nurturing, secure environment for animals who need it most — ensuring they live with dignity and joy while we work to find them loving forever homes.

 

Why We Do This

Every animal deserves safety, compassion, and a chance to feel loved. From our first rescue — a sad, abandoned dog — to the rabbits and ducks who now call our yard home, we’ve witnessed the power of care and consistency.
We’ve also faced heartbreak. Predators have taken animals from us, reminding us why secure habitats are essential. These losses fuel our commitment to building a sanctuary where every animal is protected.
