OUR MISSION
The Full Story
Paula's story as a child
"Since I was a little girl, I have loved animals and nature. When I was a child, we had a lake home for the weekends, and I grew up playing outdoors from morning 'til night. One of the local dogs used to hang out with me all the time. The owner came searching for her once and realized we were bonded so he knew on the weekends when she went missing, where she was. I love being surrounded by nature and playing in the woods. Animals and I have always gotten along. They are special beings on planet earth.
For as far back as I can remember...I have always wanted to save in-need animals, having a heart to help them and to care for those who cannot care for themselves.
How it organically started
My husband and I started fostering right after we adopted our first dog when covid hit. Her name was Lambsie, whom we realized would be better off with another pup. So, I found my new adoption, little Blackie Lawless. We didn't know Lambsie had diabetes, even though she had seen two vets. At that time her appointment was two weeks out as I could not get a vet visit. Quick enough, one morning she needed to be rushed to the emergency room, and we lost her as she was too far gone.
Blackie refused to go on walks, so we found Papa Pupsie, a rescued Chihuahua, and while we were there, they asked us to foster Meshedi- boy did he shed. Then they asked us to foster for them Rockie- our only true foster failure, now morphed to Punk Rockie- or Punkie. So many dogs, need good caring homes.
We somehow started taking the more difficult ones, that were rambunctious, scared, growled, bit, shut down, sick, etc. Since then, we have worked with three shelters/ nonprofits. The weather, time and other dogs have proven that we need our own better supplies, housing etc. for all of our lambs, rabbits and ducks, so we see decided turning our back yard into a nonprofit kennel and farm, would be awesome so we can house more dogs and animals in need.
We found our first lamb that desperately required care, who was very sad and abandoned. Then we had to get her a friend. We have taken rabbits in need of homes that people were getting rid of, and because our backyard is full of prey we also lost some great animals... yet they love to roam free. We just need better hiding areas, etc. and places for them to have their young.
Some of the other needs you could help with, are better fencing - so we can have multiple dogs from different shelters outside to play during the day. A few kennels for nighttime would be great also. We want to provide a safe place for pups that would especially do better outside a kennel, so we can save as many dogs that are being dumped daily... as we can. Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to reach out, donate your time or your abundance to help our cause."
